Owner Packing
Operating Authority - Certification issued by a state or the federal government authorizing a carrier to move household goods between designated geographical areas. A company’s agent may also have its own separate operating authority issued by a state or the federal government to move shipments within a certain geographical area. A reputable mover will be able to supply its Operating Authority number.
Order For Service Number (Also: Contract Number) - The identifying number for a shipment. It usually appears in the upper right corner of the bill of lading and on the order for service.
Order For Service - The document that is signed authorizing the carrier to transport the shipment.
Origin Agent - An agent designated in the origin area to be available for preliminary readying of the shipment before movement, such as packing cartons or providing information concerning the move.
Overflow - Articles left behind due to insufficient space on a van. They are loaded on a second van, as soon as possible, for transportation and delivery.
Owner Packing - The owner chooses to pack their own belongings, either into cartons supplied by the mover or into his own boxes.
